Baby Count Update: 11

Our friends Brendan and Mysti are having a baby boy, due April 2006, which brings our official baby count (new babies among family and friends) to 11 babies by April 2007. Congratulations you guys — you're going to be great parents!

Baby Count Update: A Shocker

I just learned that one of my dearest college friends and former roomie, Manisha, is due in two weeks. So that brings the official baby count to 10 by April 2007.

Manisha is an OB-GYN, and gave me some early words of support when I first announced my pregnancy. We're notoriously bad about corresponding, even though I still count her among my closest friends. (Here we are with her and her hubbie at lunch in New York City two years ago, shortly after they were married.) So it's a major surprise that she's due two weeks after I am.

Congrats Manisha and Ranil — now we really need to come to the East coast in the spring.

Baby Count Update

The count is now up to 9 babies by April 2007.

My friend Steph just announced on her blog that she is 11 weeks pregnant. WHOO-HOO! She and Chris have been wanting this for a long time, and I am thrilled for them.

Also, our friends Lisa and Jeremy just found out they are having a boy. Which means our Gordita will be quite the little tomboy with so many little boys her age in our close group of friends.

I should mention that two close colleagues are each also pregnant with twins. One is due shortly after I am, and one is 24 weeks. I don't include them in my official baby count, but I still think they unofficially count as part of the baby boom within my circle because I anticipate keeping in close touch with them after our babies are born, so I'm making the unofficial baby count 13 by April. A baker's dozen of babies!

Let's Do the Numbers

Here's a little dose of reality:

In 4 days, our friends Jen and Brian will arrive on American soil with their new son.
In 9 days (if the baby cooperates), our friends Caroline and Sam will have a son.
In 4 weeks (if the baby cooperates), our friends Alisa and Craig will have a son.
In 4 months (if ... you know), my brother Sam and his fiance Amy will have a daughter.
In 6 months, our close friends (who haven't announced yet, so I won't out them here) Lisa and Jeremy will have a baby (sex to be determined).

In 8 weeks, Andrew and I will have a daughter. Bentley will have a sister; our parents will have a granddaughter; our siblings will have a niece. Wow!

It's crazy to think that not only are our lives about to change dramatically, but that everything around us as we know it is changing at the same time. My circle of family and friends will welcome 6 brand new human beings into the world in the next 6 months. And nothing will ever be the same!

UPDATE: I forgot one! My work friend Lori (who was my first friend at my dot-com six years ago and now works at McKesson with me) and her partner are having a baby two weeks after us. So I guess that's 7 now ...
