This weekend the birthday festivities began early — we helped Maddie's October 19 "twin" Jackson celebrate his birthday at a party at Willard Park in Berkeley. (Jackson is the son of Lori, who was my very first new friend in California seven years ago, and her partner Julie. Very coincidentally, he was the baby born right before Maddie at Alta Bates, though we didn't find out until later.) Maddie took a three-hour nap on Saturday and missed the first two hours of the party, but she still managed to get in on some of the action. Here are a couple of pictures, courtesy of Julie:
